NYSCA GRANT
The New York State Council for the Arts has awarded two Individual Artists Grants for 2008 in the amount of $1,000. This is the first year that NYSCA has included Oswego County in this program. I am fortunate to be the recipient of one of the awards. The $1,000 will go toward a public sculpture for the village of Central Square. This project is slated for the spring of 2008. NYSCA grants are administered through the Cultural Resources Council of Syracuse. http://www.cspot.org/

David Hayes, Sculptor
Today I had the distinct pleasure of meeting a modern master. Mr. David Hayes gave a lecture at the Red House in Syracuse. Debe urged me to take a couple hours out of my day. Get one last ride on the Harley and go see Mr. Hayes.
I am glad I did. Mr. Hayes gave a very unpretentious, down to earth talk and slide show to an audience of maybe 20-30 people. The talk was relaxed and informal and I was able to ask a number of questions. At the end I was able to shake his hand and have a few words with him. I left very inspired.
My only regret was that I didn't bring my camera to get a photo with him.
