New Barn/Studio

We have a barn. Still more to do next summer to finish it up. We will add more windows in both gable ends and on the front left side facing the pond. We also hope to add a ten foot "bump out" shed addition for a framing area and a small solar array with led lighting. In any case we made a lot of progress this summer. We started clearing trees and doing the site week the 4th of July weekend. The following week we began prepping for the concrete slab. Our heartfelt thanks to our son Kevin Abbott II and Ken Doria of Ken Doria Construction. Also Karl Hoyt for help with the site work.

New Studio

A long time coming. Twenty one this fall actually. That's how long Deb and I have dreamed of building a barn/studio at our place in the woods know by family and friends as Dragonwood http://thedragonwoodchronicles.blogspot.com/. We have our drawings and are ready to build a 18' X 28' foot barn. We have done the site work, cutting trees, clearing the land, bringing in fill and grading off for a level building site. This week we hope to get the foundation, a monolithic concrete slab finished. Then after a few days of curing and permiting we can begin the frame up. Should go fast once the foundation is complete. I will post photos of the progress.

Time to Head North

It's that time of year again. Deb and I are preparing to pack up the tent here in Florida for the summer and make our annual trip to upstate New York for the summer. This year we hope to build a small barn with the help of our son to serve as our summer studio. Looking forward to seeing our family and friends in New York and Vermont. We wish all of our Florida friends and colleagues a wonderful summer. Stay cool, if you can. We will see you all in October.

"Blue Dancer" SOLD

This painting measures 16" X 20" and is one of fifteen small canvases I am displaying at this year's 100 for $100 show at Gallery on First in Sanford. The show is an annual event that has proven popular in past years. I have made this series of small paintings. Some are studies for larger paintings. Some are just experimental ideas. Things I'm trying out. This one and several others are based on my figurative steel sculptures. Scroll down and you will see similarity to "Persephone". This painting is offered unframed at $100.00. Typically framed similar paintings sell in the $350 - $450 range.

"Arrangement in Steel"

This little gem is my latest tabletop sculpture. The piece measures 15" X 7" x 5.5". I nearly titled it "happenstance" as these steel pieces had fallen together in a bin and I found them arranged pretty much as you see them. I did add the base and the two additional elements to bring the piece together. Currently available for viewing or purchase at Gallery on First, Sanford, Florida. $500.00
