My work is mostly non-representational abstraction. I occasionally do some figurative work. I admire the work of the "New York School" artists and the color field painters.

About the Artist

K.V. Abbott

born 1960, Townshend, Vermont

"I was fortunate to have been raised in a culturally rich place and time. Southern Vermont was an art mecca during the 1960's and 70's. Bennington College boasted faculty members that included Sir Anthony Caro, David Smith, Jules Olitsky and Helen Frankenthaler to name a few. Kenneth Noland, Norman Bluhm, Wolf Kahn, John Fernie,Patrick Farrow, and many other artists of considerable acclaim moved to the mountains to find solitude and inspiration. Some of these artists were neighbors and their children were classmates and friends. Visiting their homes at a young age left a lasting impression on me. The desire to make art was already there, but this intimacy with established career artists propelled me to make art my career."

"While I enjoy and admire most periods and genre, it is the post-war, "New York School" artists. The "Ab-Ex" artists that have captured my imagination and interest. These artists have informed my work the greatest and continue to be my inspiration."

I maintain seasonal studios in Bernhards Bay, New York and Sanford, Florida.
